Underfloor Heating and Cooling

At Joneau Plumbing we install both Electrical and Hydronic (water) based underfloor heating systems. The electrical systems have the advantage of being a mat with a low profile, the hydronic have a better functionality with a heat pump and a potential adaptation to cooling.

Benefits

Using underfloor heating has obvious benefits over traditional heating methods (radiators, storage heaters) such as comfort, reliability and reduced costs. Underfloor heating gives a constant air temperature profile in your rooms with a correct balance of radiant and convected heat. See more about the advantages of underfloor heating systems…

Most heating systems heat from the top down, which can leave us feeling uncomfortable. The heat generated by radiators is usually concentrated into relatively small areas, heating the air directly around them. The air then rises up the wall, along the ceiling into the centre of the room. When it reaches the centre of the room, it cools slightly, and then descends towards the floor. The result therefore, is a warm head and cold feet!
Underfloor heating can result in a 15% energy saving over traditional electric heating, assuming the system has been installed correctly and is running using a suitable setback facility. Underfloor heating systems disperse radiant heat evenly.
Most underfloor heating systems are controlled on a room by room basis, each running off of its own thermostat. So while you may wish to have a cooler bedroom or kitchen, you will probably like the lounge or bathrooms to be warmer.
Installing an underfloor heating system in place off traditional radiators, presents you with more useable room space. You no longer have to arrange furniture around radiators preventing them from being blocked.
Underfloor Heating reduces the number of airborne allergens (substances that cause an allergic reaction), lowering air moisture levels in areas such as bathrooms by drying wet floors and walls. It also helps reduce drafts, aiding people with asthma or other breathing complications.
